Scientists believe that art originated in the primitive world. In the period from the 35th to the 10th millennium BC, painting, graphics and sculpture appeared. Rock carvings and ancient stone figurines are still found by archaeologists all over the world today. One of the most famous ancient works of art can be seen in the Altamira Cave in Spain: its walls and vaults are decorated with images of animals and palm prints. The age of these images is about 20 thousand years. Art reached a special heyday in Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. Greek craftsmen conveyed the human figure, muscle tension and texture of the finest fabric in stone with anatomical precision. Throughout the history of mankind, art has changed. In the Middle Ages, sculpture and icon painting developed in European countries, and stained glass and mosaic techniques were improved.
